Why Idaho?
I chose U of I College of Law for several reasons. I was primarily drawn in because of the classes and programs offered for environmental law, something that many of the other colleges I looked at didn’t offer. I was also really drawn to the location of the College because you get the benefit of being in a city while having an abundance of nature and outdoor activities within minutes. Finally the cost of tuition was significantly more affordable than any other college I looked at which eased my concerns about affording law school.
What advice would you offer to incoming 1Ls?
Clear your mind of expectations and take it one day at a time. You are learning a new language and it will take a little time and a lot of dedication before everything clicks, but it will! Something that helps me tremendously is a good schedule. I know what I need to read and when, but I always make sure to leave some room for free time because learning becomes impossible when you are burnt out and overwhelmed. Time away from the books can be just as important as time in the books, it’s all about finding the balance that works best for you.
Favorite Moscow recommendation?
There are so many amazing coffee shops within walking distance of the Boise campus. Trying a new coffee shop each week helps keep the semester fun!
