Christine Salmi is a Deputy Attorney General in the State of Idaho Office of the Attorney General’s civil litigation division. Prior to joining the Attorney General’s Office, Christine spent nearly two decades in private practice as an attorney with Perkins Coie, LLP in its Boise office. During her tenure with Perkins Coie, Christine most recently served as Senior Counsel in charge of leading the Boise office’s commercial litigation group. She was also a member of the firm’s appellate and labor and employment practices and Chair of the Boise office’s Diversity Committee. Christine specializes in complex real estate and products liability litigation, insurance and commercial construction matters, employment litigation and civil appellate matters, both at the state and federal level.
Recently, Christine completed her three-year term as the Ninth Circuit Appellate Lawyer Representative for the District of Idaho. She currently serves as a member of the Ninth Circuit Law Clerk Resources Group, which serves as a resource to federal law clerks who have questions about workplace issues or are seeking advice on future career opportunities. Christine is a co-founder and former chair of the Idaho State Bar’s Appellate Practice Section and a co-editor/publisher of The Idaho Appellate Handbook (2015). She is also a long-time member of the Idaho Women Lawyers and the Federal Bar Association, and serves as a mentor to young lawyers in both organizations.
Early in her career, Christine clerked for Justice Gerald Schroeder of the Idaho Supreme Court and U.S. Magistrate Judge Larry Boyle of the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho. She has also provided hundreds of hours of pro bono representation for court-appointed guardians ad litem for children involved in child protection proceedings, and she formerly served as a member of the Court Appointed Special Advocate Program’s Attorney Advisory Council.
In her personal life, Christine is active in the rare disease community, particularly in the epilepsy field, where she has taken on a number of leadership roles to help raise awareness and funds to find a cure for a rare form of epilepsy associated with the CHD2 gene that has affected a member of her family.
Christine graduated magna cum laude from the University of Idaho College of Law in 1997, where she served as Managing/Lead Articles Editor for the Idaho Law Review during her final year in law school. Prior to law school, she received her B.S. degree in Journalism from Illinois State University.
