Employee Separation Benefits
Employee benefits end at midnight on the last day worked in a benefit eligible position. Employees and covered dependents may be eligible for COBRA the first day following the loss of healthcare coverage. Loss of coverage occurs when:
- Upon termination of benefit eligible employment
- Hours or terms of employment are reduced to a benefit-ineligible status
- Divorce or legal separation (applies to a covered employee's spouse)
- Death of employee
- Covered child no longer qualifies as a "dependent child" under the plan
COBRA Continuation of Coverage
- COBRA enrollment packets are mailed approximately 2 weeks following the loss of coverage
- Submit address changes to hr@uidaho.edu
- COBRA elections must be completed within 60 days of the loss of coverage
- Cost of coverage is 100% of plan cost (in addition to 2% administrative fee)
- Monthly cost will be included in COBRA enrollment packet
