We offer resources and programming regarding soils, vegetable gardening, fruit trees, ornamentals, lawns, insects, weeds and other related topics.

Harvest Heroes — Veteran Beginning Farming & Gardening Program
The program in Moscow is being offered on an ongoing basis. Please email hhfarmvets@latah.id.us. We will offer hands-on components as soon as is safe to do so.
Tuesday Community Market
The Tuesday Community Market opens this year on June 15 from 4-7 p.m. on the lawn at the Latah County Fair and Event Center (1021 Harold Street, Moscow). The market will be held every Tuesday from June 15 to Oct. 5 featuring local bands, vendors selling eggs, milk, microgreens, plants, produce, beer, food and more.
The Viola Farm will sell eggs, raw cow milk and cream, salad greens, lettuce and kale. Odin’s Harvest will sell microgreens. Moscow Brewing Company will offer their locally brewed beer with $1 off coupons available with purchase from one of the other vendors. The Moscow High School music program will feature various small student ensembles from the choir, orchestra and band. Look for handmade home décor and crafts.
The Girl Scouts and Blue Cross of Idaho will have informational tables. If you are interested in volunteering at the market, the Moscow Food Co-op is sponsoring a couple volunteer positions.

Soil Fertility Test
The standard soil fertility test includes pH, nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium and organic matter and costs $45.
Getting Started
Call the office at 208-883-2267 to check the availability of the soil probe and receive a collection bag and submission form at no charge.
How to Take a Soil Sample
- Assemble a clean plastic bucket and a shovel or soil probe.
Tools should be stainless steel or aluminum alloy. No iron. - Take eight to 12 randomly spaced soil samples at a depth of 8-12 inches.
- Mix samples thoroughly and fill collection bag with two cups of composite soil.
- Fill out the submission form (PDF) with name, address and phone.
Indicate what you are sampling in the “Submitter ID” column. - Take sample, a $45 check payable to “Bursar, University of Idaho” and submission form to the Analytical Sciences Laboratory:
