Opening reception for “Brave & Bold Women in University of Idaho History” display

U of I Library, Second Floor
On the first day of Women's History Month, attend the opening reception for the "Brave & Bold Women in University of Idaho History" display on the second floor of the library, which recognizes 10 remarkable women who’ve left their mark on the university. Lysa Salsbury, director of the Women’s Center, Dr. Rebecca Scofield, chair of the History department, and Dr. Yolanda Bisbee, Chief Diversity Officer and Executive Director of Tribal Relations, will each say a few words about the important ways that women have made U of I the institution it is today. Coffee and treats will be served.
LunaFest Film Festival
5:30 p.m. pre-show reception, 6:15 p.m. film screening, March 1

LunaFest is a national traveling festival of short films by independent women filmmakers. Curated by LunaTM, the nutrition bar for women, LunaFest provides a national platform for women and gender-diverse filmmakers to showcase their films. The film screening is preceded by a reception with hors d’oeuvres by One World Café. Please register to join us. Tickets are free for students and $15 for all others. 2023 Africana Studies Distinguished Speaker Series Lecture
with Tracey Michae'l Lewis-Giggets – Writer, Storyteller, Educator

As a writer and thought-leader, Tracey Michae’l Lewis-Giggetts offers those who read her work and hear her speak an authentic experience; an opportunity to explore the intersection of culture, identity and faith/spirituality at the deepest levels. She is the host of the podcast, HeARTtalk with Tracey Michae’l, and founder of HeARTspace, a healing community created to serve those who have experienced trauma through the use of storytelling and the arts. In 2022, Tracey’s critically-acclaimed book, Black Joy: Stories of Resistance, Resilience, and Restoration (Gallery/Simon and Schuster) was published. Black Joy won the 2023 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work - Instructional. Black Joy has received rave reviews from celebrities like Kerry Washington, literary giants like Kiese Laymon and Deesha Philyaw, and media outlets like Good Morning America, Essence Magazine, and USA Today. Idaho Women in Business Summit

Join the College of Business & Economics for the inaugural University of Idaho Women in Business (WIB) Summit. The theme, “Be the First,” is inspired by leaders who have the strength to bravely go first while inspiring others. We will explore who we are, how we authentically lead with bravery, and how we can empower future women business leaders. The WIB Summit will provide professional and personal development opportunities for current college students as they preparing to join the workforce. International Women’s Day & Holi Festival of Colors
2-4 p.m., March 8
Tower Lawn
Join the International Programs Office and the Women's Center for an energy-filled festival where you can daub supplied powdered color on other participants. Drink warm beverages and watch your friends as we celebrate. Holi is a celebration of the Hindu god, Krishna, and the legend of the Holika and Prahad. International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality.
Optional event preparation tips:
- Apply coconut oil to hair and any type of oil to the skin, so the powder will be easily washed off
- Wear white, inexpensive clothing
- Wear ear plugs and glasses if you want to be extra careful
Webinar: Reflecting on the Impact of the Women’s Center

A panel of interns, past and current students and friends of the Women’s Center will share the impact of their involvement with the center through the years. Learn how the Women’s Center has supported faculty and staff and boosted women’s outdoor programming. Hear about the center's role as a home base for student organizations such as F.L.A.M.E. and 25+ Vandals and its support of the growth of the Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies program. The Bandana Project

Part of College Assistance Migrant Program's (CAMP) observance of Farmworkers Awareness Week, the Bandana Project is a public awareness campaign aimed at addressing the issue of workplace sexual violence against farmworker women in the United States. It is an art-activism and advocacy project that serves as a healing tool for women across the U.S., Mexico and other countries. Come and decorate white bandanas with words of encouragement, motivating statements, inspirational pictures and art. All supplies provided, everyone welcome.
Virginia Wolf Distinguished Service Awards
