Jonathan Armstrong - “How fish and wildlife exploit shifting mosaics of habitat: examples from Alaska to Oregon”

Jonny has a B.A. in biology from Lewis and Clark College and a Ph.D. from University of Washington, where he worked with Daniel Schindler and the Alaska Salmon Program. He was a Smith Fellow postdoc at University of Wyoming and recently became a professor at Oregon State University. Jonny’s work integrates landscape ecology, animal behavior, and physiology to explore how animals interact with their environment. Jonny’s recent work explores how animals exploit landscape-level asynchrony in habitat conditions and what it means for conservation planning. Jonny’s research has been published in top journals such as Nature and covered by a variety of media outlets. In his free time, Jonny chases his toddler around and sets fancy camera traps for mountain lions and other carnivores.
