Michael is an Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts in Technical Direction at the University of Idaho, where he oversees all aspects of the production phase for each play at the University of Idaho as well as teaching classes in scenic technology.
Prior to joining the University of Idaho, Michael served as the Technical Director/Designer and Theater Manager for the Theatre Arts department at Bellevue College, Washington and the Technical Director and Designer, for Bellevue Youth Theatre.
He earned his BA in Performing Arts from Iowa State University and an MFA in Theatre Arts: Design & Technology from the University of Idaho. In 2016 he participated in a month-long summer training program in scenography at the prestigious Moscow Art Theatre in Moscow, Russia and in 2015 attended an 8-week program at the Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Recent adventures include designing props for Village Theatre Kidstage's School of Rock, designing scenery for Bellevue College's The Fantasticks, and designing scenery and lighting for Bellevue Youth Theatre's Bobby's World of Adventure.
Michael is a member of the United States Institute of Theatre Technology (USITT).
