Future Students
Welcome to Idaho, Future Vandals!
The Lionel Hampton School of Music offers you the opportunity to learn by performing, listening to, analyzing and creating music.
The Lionel Hampton School of Music is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music, and the standards of the school are consistent with those set by the association.
Students involved in the undergraduate and graduate programs learn by performing, listening to, analyzing and creating music.
Undergraduate students develop a broad understanding of musical styles and techniques of all eras, including contemporary music, participate in studios with instruction from our expert faculty and participate in the university's unique General Education program, taking courses in a wide range of topics. The undergraduate degrees include music courses in theory, history, composition and performance.
Our graduate students also study with our expert faculty and focus on a specific subject area within music. We offer the Master of Music degree with concentrations in accompanying, choral conducting, composition, performance, piano pedagogy and performance studies, and the Master of Arts with a concentration in music history. We also offer an online Master of Music degree distance program in either performance or composition.
